Frantic Summer Days

Hi! In between fishing trips right now, trying to make the most out of the way-too-short summer above the arctic circle. As ususal, the fishing has had its ups and downs, with everything from huge hatches and big, steadily rising fish to weeks with gale force winds from the north and very crappy fishing. Big Mayflies, Big Trout and Big Horses

Ahhh. Sometimes, life above the arctic circle is just so… good. Sunny weather, green fields, snowcapped mountains, and huge amounts of Ephemera vulgata mayflies hatching. What more can you ask for? Some people have more sense than others, and head for the southern hemisphere. Spending February in New Zealand doesn´t sound too shabby, but alas, that´s not gonna happen this… Read more »

Bibio pomonae…

…it is! Today, I´d like to share some impressions and images from this year´s huge Bibio pomonae feast, or at least my part of it. It took place somewhere in the mountains of Nordkalotten, the vast, sparsely populated area that covers the northern parts of Norway, Sweden, Finland and northwestern Russia. This is where I´ve… Read more »
